French For Rabbits share their most ambitious music video to date.
We’re satisfied to start out the weekend off by premiering the music video for New Zealand indie folk veterans French for Rabbits. Out of their 2017 album with the very same title, “The Weight of Melted Snow” is a prescient instance of what tends to make the band so unique. A beautifully arranged piano ballad, “The Weight of Melted Snow” is amongst the French for Rabbits’ extra melody-driven function. It is the type of song that could quickly function if it was just lead vocalist Brooke Singer on the piano, but French for Rabbits go the added mile in creating the ballad a genuinely unique occasion. About the origin of track, she stated:
I wrote The Weight of Melted Snow in a small port township referred to as Port Chalmers, deep in the South of New Zealand. You could hear the church bells ringing in the valley there…so that is how the song starts. I’d just moved there, and it was unsettling to be someplace so isolated just after becoming on tour. I was remembering small moments vividly, like walking down streets and searching by means of lit windows reflecting on all the tiny information of our everyday lives ripping across the time zones. It is unusually slow and stately for a single, but the chorus is 1 of the favourite factors I’ve written for the reason that of the layers in its which means, “her wings are but the weight of melted snow”.
Embroidered with scenic string arrangements and an understated guitar line that replicates the vocal melody, “The Weight of Melted Snow” is a touching chamber pop function. It is a melancholy and ceremonial tune, the type of song that wouldn’t be out of spot at the finish of a film although the credits roll. Clearly conscious of the song’s cinematic worth, the Kiwi band decided to use the track for their most ambitious music video to date. Portraying a scene that is someplace in involving a funeral and an art exhibition, the video was born as a collaboration with New Zealander photographer Misma Andrews, who when had a dream about the bodies of literary characters becoming place in show in museums. It is the type of dream-like tableau that would drop its energy if communicated through words, so do oneself a favour and take four minutes off to watch the complete issue and verify their upcoming tour dates (which includes some gigs with Kate Teague) under.
