Afro-soul collective The Budos Band have shared the most up-to-date single from their forthcoming LP V, and boy-oh-boy is it a funky piece of rock instrumentation. “Arcane Rambler” does just that, rambling along to a heady concoction of woozy guitar function, off-kilter percussion raps, and blistering horns. It is a swirling maelstrom of darkly-soulful sonics, the sort you just sort of let oneself drift-off into with each howling horn solo or groovy side-step of crashing drums. The complete song just screams funky intro to some 90s cartoon and that just adds a complete other layer of nostalgia for us. This is just the second single from Budos’ upcoming new album and we can currently inform it is going to be a kinetic workout of some of the band’s finest instrumentation.

V will be the stick to-up to the band’s 2014 album Burnt Providing and promises to be an eclectic mix that melds collectively sounds across their discography. Guitarist and producer Tom Brenneck has stated that the new album “feels like the truest representation” of the two-decade-old band.

The Budos Band will be going on tour this spring across the nation. Their upcoming album V is out April 12 by means of Daptone Records, preorder it right here. Stop by their web site and Facebook to keep updated on new music and future announcements.
