Who is favored to win Super Bowl 2019? This is the 5 billion dollars question as that’s how much people tend to spend betting on this game. The climax of the NFL season is upon us with Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta. It will pit the NFC Champion, Los Angeles Rams, and Sean McVay against the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, and Tom Brady. The Patriots have been a mainstay in title games in recent years and this year is no different. After losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52, they’re back in the Big Game again after they rallied late to beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead. L.A. looked like they would lose at New Orleans, but kicked a game-winning field goal in overtime advance to the Super Bowl.
The early odds on this game opened at pk, but that wasn’t around for long. Pinnacle Sports moved quickly in favor of the Patriots once the line opened. It was at -1.5 on Jan 23rd at just about every sportsbook online. As of this writing, it’s at Patriots -2.5 and Rams +2.5. Most Super Bowl betting sites have increased vigorish on New England at -115 or -120. One of our top sportsbooks, MyBookie has the Patriots at 2.5 (-120) and Rams +2.5 (+100). Judging by most sportsbooks reporting, both offshore and in Las Vegas, the vast majority of betting tickets have come in on New England.
The total opened at 58.5 points and has dropped quite a bit since the market opened. It has now at 56 or 56.5 at most sportsbooks. However, there are some that still have the total quite high. MyBookie’s current odds for the total are at 58 points. Be sure to shop around for the best price on the total, regardless of whether you want to bet the over or under.
Moneylines should be correlated to point spreads, but many times, depending on betting action – this will not be the case. The moneyline odds opened at Pinnacle with the Patriots at -125 and the Rams at +105. Since then, the odds have moved in favor of New England. You will find the Patriots between -138 and -150 at online betting sites. The best price we have seen for Los Angeles is +120.
Early Betting Lean On Super Bowl 2019
We will have a full write up, along with betting picks, on the spread, total, and moneyline for Super Bowl 53. Right now, and we’re still over a week away – I lean towards the New England -2.5. However, the best play available as of this writing is the under 58 points. Several online sportsbooks are still dealing that number. If you’re interested in the Rams, the moneyline at +120 makes more sense than the +2.5, but I would wait to wager if you’re thinking of taking L.A. till a little closer to game time. Stay tuned for our free game picks from our SBS’ NFL expert on Super Bowl 53 to see who we will pick as the favorite to win.
