With the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft, Broncos Nation anxiously awaits a resolution amongst Chris Harris Jr. and the Denver Broncos.
There is increasing speculation that since the Broncos did not pick a cornerback in the draft, Harris will play for the group in 2019. Harris has produced it clear that he feels underpaid and disrespected. Meanwhile, there is the perception that Basic Manager John Elway expects Harris to fulfill the final year of his contract regardless of irrespective of whether there is an extension.
Days ago on, “The Security Blitz,” Nick Ferguson asked former teammate and 2019 NFL Hall-of-Fame inductee Champ Bailey about Harris’ contract circumstance.
“Well it is unfortunate you know for Chris, since I assume the final 3 or 4 years he’s been underpaid,” mentioned Bailey, who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Aug. three in Canton.
Bailey, who at a single time had a contract dispute of his personal with the Broncos, was a former teammate of Harris.
“Every time I appear at the tape, nothing at all alterations about his game,” Bailey added. “He just balls. I do not know what else he has to do to get his due.”
Prior to the draft, Harris requested a trade or contract that would spend him $15 million per year. This year, he is set to earn $7.eight million in base salary which is far beneath the typical salary amongst active cornerbacks.
Whilst each the Broncos and Harris have alluded to the possibility of mending fences, nothing at all has been resolved.
Bailey believes ultimately Harris Jr. will get the paycheck he deserves but that may possibly or may possibly not be Denver.
“I got a feeling he’ll get paid, irrespective of whether it is with Denver or someplace else. Hopefully it is with Denver,” Bailey mentioned. “We all know John Elway does not spend till he has to. When that time comes, I’m confident he’ll pull the trigger.”
