A man walked into a pawn shop in Florida, place his infant on the counter and, according to police, asked how a lot he could get for the kid.

“This is what I got,” the father, Richard Slocum, stated as he placed the infant just before the owner of the shop in Sarasota, on Florida’s Gulf coast. “He’s barely applied, seven and a half months old, what do you feel he’s worth?”

The father later told officers he had been joking, but the shop owner did not see the humour and referred to as the police.

“He was quite severe about it,” Richard Jordan told a neighborhood tv news channel. “He spun the infant about, and stated, ‘Can I pawn this?'”

Jordan referred to as the police as quickly as Slocum left, saying he was concerned for the child’s wellbeing.

“Slocum claims that his encounter with the shop clerk was a prank and that he wanted to location his personal video on social media,” the police division stated in a statement.

Slocum contacted law enforcement himself following he heard on social media that they had been attempting to recognize the particular person behind the stunt. Dozens of police and neighborhood officials then descended on his house, he stated.

“They did not come across it funny or hilarious at all and there was a lot of sources and time and revenue that went into it,” stated Slocum, a single parent who tends to make video clips that he, at least, considers humorous and shares them on Snapchat.

Jordan, the shopkeeper, was not laughing. “This is not funny, this is severe company,” he told the news channel.

Police stated detectives verified the youngster was protected and contacted social solutions.

“At this time, there are no criminal charges for this investigation,” the police division stated.
