Inside Vanity Fair’s Cannes Celebration with Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, and A lot more

A rainstorm could have drenched the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday night—but guests of Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones stayed dry and upbeat at a dinner and subsequent immediately after-celebration hosted at the historic Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in nearby Antibes.

Quentin Tarantino—who is returning to the festival on the 25th anniversary of his Palme d’Or win for Pulp Fiction to debut When Upon a Time in Hollywood—arrived for dinner alongside new wife Daniela Choose, joining guests like Chloë Sevigny, Miles Teller, Liev Schreiber, Andie MacDowell, and Jesse Eisenberg. David Geffen and Len Blavatinik—whose yachts have been parked outdoors in the Mediterranean—chatted more than cocktails. And Willem Dafoe, swamped by higher-profile fans as he entered the celebration, caught up with his Antichrist co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Following dinner, at the immediately after-celebration hosted by Jones and sponsored by Chopard, Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra joined a lively dance floor overseen by Vanity Fair’s resident music guru D.J. Mateo. As Prince and the Rolling Stones played in the background, Shailene Woodley—in a magenta skirt—danced her heart out, though her The Spectacular Now co-star Miles Teller and wife Keleigh Sperry stood close by. Tarantino had a spirited chat with rumored Batman Robert Pattinson, on the eve of the premiere of Pattinson’s Cannes film The Lighthouse—one of the most anticipated films screening at the festival.

Alfonso Cuarón greeted nicely-wishers like Vanity Fair’s personal film critic Richard Lawson and digital director Mike Hogan, expressing gratitude that V.F. named his Roma the most effective film of 2018. Chloë Sevigny held court below an awning hunting out more than the sea, happily greeting the tech entrepreneur son of a film producer, and remarking on his suave South-of-France comportment. Antonio Banderas, a frontrunner for the most effective-actor prize for his understated turn in Pedro Almodóvar’s lauded primary competitors entry Discomfort and Glory, greeted a dozen nicely-wishers and gamely posed for photographs. Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault joined in on the merriment, as Chris Tucker introduced son Destin Tucker to Cannes celebration.

Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt remarked that she had been in hair and makeup for 4 hours preceding to a premiere at the festival on Saturday afternoon. She seemed relieved to be accomplished with her red-carpet duties for the evening. Longtime Cannes staple Pamela Anderson posed for pictures in a doorway, a dramatic backdrop of rain and the iconic hotel swimming pool behind her.

Revelers lingered at the du Cap till the wee hours, a lot of partygoers ultimately saying fie to the steady rain and venturing outdoors to smoke Gauloises and love the unseasonably crisp Riviera air. Cannes is, immediately after all, only as fabulous as one particular tends to make it—rain or shine. Even though yet another lengthy day of premieres and interviews and enterprise meetings awaited a lot of of the guests on Sunday, for a handful of valuable hours in Antibes, the most effective of Cannes was cozily all in one particular spot.
