Ligue 1 Slowed him down in race for Golden Shoe

Kylian Mbappe‘s statements at the Ligue 1 awards are still reverberating around the world, and it is thought that they were, in part, indirectly aimed at Paris Saint-Germain head coach Thomas Tuchel.

The 20-year-old intimated that he either wanted a more prominent role at PSG, or he would look to be the star man elsewhere.

“Maybe it’s time to have more responsibility, which could be at PSG with great pleasure or maybe somewhere else with a new project,” said Mbappe.

One of the reasons for Mbappe‘s frustration is that Tuchel, in the player’s eyes, prevented him from having a shot at winning the Golden Shoe, according to Le Parisien. The German coach did not play him against Strasbourg or Nantes, games which caused him to lose pace with Lionel Messi in the race to be the world’s most prolific goalscorer.

The same publication does not, however, that Mbappe has a good rapport with Tuchel, while his statements have nothing to do with the coach’s relationship with Neymar, his darling and also that of PSG.

The Ligue 1 champions responded to this chatter by issuing a statement which announced that Mbappe would be staying at the club, but the World Cup winner’s declarations have caused a few sides to open their eyes, most notably Real Madrid. The forward has an excellent relationship with Neymar, but also with Tuchel. Europe awaits what could be an interesting summer at the Parc des Princes.
