With practically seven years elapsed since their final album, the members of Cave In convened at their rehearsal area in February 2018 in hopes of capturing lightning in a bottle. After a weekend spent laying the groundwork for brand spanking new songs to return, Caleb Scofield acquired in his truck and drove dwelling to New Hampshire. It was the final time his bandmates would ever see him. Instantly, a light-weight had gone out on the planet—a monstrous bass tone, a feral roar, a good friend and father.   Whereas Caleb is probably not of this world any longer, his fingerprints may be seen and felt throughout Remaining TransmissionTogether with showing on the album’s opening monitor an iPhone voice memo, he performs bass on six of the album’s remaining eight songs, and guitar on the opposite two.


Initially meant as demos, Remaining Transmission was delivered to fruition by a band in want of catharsis, then combined by Andrew Schneider and mastered by James Plotkin. Even a cursory pay attention of Remaining Transmission will provide glimpses of previous Cave In eras, from the scintillating area rock of their 2000 breakthrough opus Jupiter to the ripping metallic melodies of White Silence.
