The Miss America Pageant is leaving Atlantic City for the second time, with the Miss America Organization announcing Tuesday that this year’s pageant will take spot at the Mohegan Sun Connecticut in Uncasville, Conn.

The pageant will be broadcast Dec. 19 by NBC, one more current switch just after a run on ABC.

The AP quotes Regina Hopper, president and CEO of the Miss America Organization, saying: “The Miss America Organization is proud to companion with Mohegan Sun as we return to our longtime NBC house. We are hunting forward to a fresh take on this historic competitors that will showcase the extraordinary ladies vying for the job of Miss America 2020.”

The AP adds: “The pageant started in Atlantic City in 1921 as a way to extend the summer time tourism season beyond Labor Day weekend. It became synonymous with the New Jersey seaside resort but moved to Las Vegas in 2005, returning to Atlantic City in 2013.”

Neither the pageant nor NBC announced regardless of whether the move to Uncasville is for several years.
