Kalank director Abhishek Varman lost his father, veteran art director R Verman, on Tuesday. The 72-year-old Bollywood veteran had been ailing because some time and was admitted to a hospital for remedy. He passed away soon after suffering a cardiac arrest on July 30, at 12:30 am.
Abhishek Verman performed the final rites of his father at Oshiwara crematorium. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Abhishek’s sector pals, filmmaker Karan Johar, actors Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, directors Shashank Khaitan and Anurag Singh came down to meet him and provide condolences.
Ratna Verman Shetty aka R Verman was an alumnus of Mumbai’s JJ College of Art and owned a publicity designing and cine marketing business. The late art director had collaborated on many projects with late Dev Anand’s production residence, functioning on films like Jewel Thief and Guide. Although he worked as a publicity designer, R Verman decided to venture into art director and has worked on a lot more than 350 films, which involves classics like Betaab, Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai, and Hum to name a couple of.
