Frank Lampard admitted managing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was the “stuff of dreams” but was disappointed his homecoming was not marked with a win.

The former midfielder, who played close to 650 games for the Blues, was taking charge at household for the initial time because his summer time appointment but had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Leicester.

It had seemed like a win was written in the stars as, immediately after the pageantry of his arrival into the dugout, with chants of ‘Super Frank Lampard’ ringing about the stadium and banners held aloft, Mason Mount gave Chelsea a deserved early lead.

But Leicester, orchestrated by the impressive James Maddison, showed why they are tipped to make a challenge for the best six this season as Wilfred Ndidi created up for an error in the construct-up to Chelsea’s objective with the equaliser immediately after the break.

Lampard mentioned: “It felt excellent, it is a particular moment for me to come back to the club and handle them at Stamford Bridge, of course it is the stuff of dreams.

“For me it is a massive factor, but my concentrate these days was on the match and attempting to win.

“Thanks really a great deal to the fans, I appreciate that, but I am right here to do a job and right here to attempt and win for the club and we can do far better than we did these days.

“We can do far better than we did for 60 minutes these days and we will do for positive.”

Lampard is the initial Chelsea manager because Rafael Benitez seven years ago not to win any of his initial 3 games in charge, but he is expecting patience.

“It’s a benefits organization,” he added. “It’s strange since the efficiency against Manchester United all round created me happier than these days even even though it was a four- outcome. We have to have each.

“There had been frustrations. If there had been frustrations in the crowd, there had been frustrations in the group and on the bench.”

“We’re operating in a single way right here and we want to do effectively. We know that in the situations that there are some challenging components this year.

“We couldn’t bring players in, I couldn’t as a new manager bring any players to support push the way I’m considering, we lost Eden (Hazard) and he was so pivotal to this club.

Brendan Rodgers felt his side must have ruined Lampard’s homecoming entirely.

“We must have won it. It was a challenging start out for us, Frank got a excellent reaction which fed into the players and we struggled to get into it,” the former Liverpool and Celtic boss mentioned.

“We had to hang in there in the opening minutes but immediately after that we gained composure.

“Second half I believed we had been really, really excellent, defensively. We didn’t give away a great deal and then we developed a quantity of excellent possibilities to win the game.

“A point was the least we deserved, I am proud of the boys we must have won the game.

“The best six is constantly going to be complicated, but we have got to be aggressive and dominate, what ever arena you are playing in, household or away, and you saw that from my group these days.

“I know how challenging it is to come right here.”
