If you ever feel like your foundation or concealer is drying out your skin throughout the day, you might want to take a closer look at the ingredients list – because while we’re all clued up on what we need in our moisturisers and serums to stay hydrated, a new wave of makeup launches are proving that our cosmetics can bring skincare benefits too.

I tried the world’s first ‘Foundcealer’ and totally loved it

One of the first to jump on the trend in a big way is budget-friendly Revolution; the beauty brand is launching skincare-infused makeup after listening to its own customers who wanted a more hydrating formula and a lighter texture. It’s exactly what we want from our base in 2019 – weightless, Insta-filter style coverage that feels comfortable, not cakey.

The new products include a Conceal & Hydrate Concealer and Conceal & Hydrate Foundation, and they’re available in a whopping 50 shades – everyone from the very fair to the very deep is catered for, and you can pick your match based on your undertones. Both of the new base products contain hyaluronic acid, the expert-approved, skin-plumping hydrator that can hold 1000x its weight in water – which means no more dry patches wrecking your makeup come 3pm.

The £7 liquid concealer is in a handy tube with a doe foot applicator and is ideal for dry, mature skin. The lightweight coverage helps to cover up blemishes, dark circles and uneven tone with a satiny finish, all the while keeping skin soft and supple with the smart addition of hyaluronic acid and acai berry.

Meanwhile, the budget foundation will be a game-changer for many, both in performance and price; the HA-infused foundation rivals many of the high street’s more high-end brands with its dewy, radiant finish and weightless texture, all for just £9 – at least half the price of its premium competitors. Coverage can be customised by either using a couple of pumps and blending with fingertips, or applying a lighter amount with a damp beauty sponge.

Hyaluronic acid is the skincare equivalent of a big drink of water for your face, but what does it actually do?

The launch follows the success of the Conceal & Define range which sold one every five seconds (take a look at the video below for more) – so don’t wait around if you want to try the new hydrating formula, there might just be a beauty stampede…
