Right here Shane, 56, whose very first location is North Wales with his brood wife Christie, their 3 children Mackenzie, Lolita and Romani and his in-laws, Jackie and Phil, tells us about his adventures in Caravanning with Shane Richie….
Why did you want to make the show?
Shane Richie: “We’ve got all these great locations on our doorsteps in the UK so I believed it would be wonderful to give a bit of a individual insight and supply some recommendations and share my personal experiences. The documentary is extremely considerably warts and all.”
What are your personal childhood vacation memories?
SR: “We’d usually remain in either chalets or tiny static caravans which had been extremely various back then. I keep in mind the curtains never ever met in the middle, the doors never ever seemed to match the frames adequately and you had these toilets that you had to pump to make them flush! Delighted days!”
What adventures did you get up to in Wales and what had been some of your highlights from the rest of the series?
SR: “I took everybody to the dry-ski slope in Llandudno and we also went zip-wiring 400 feet more than a quarry at Blaenau Ffestiniog despite the fact that it was a extremely windy day and you could smell the worry that ran amongst my loved ones beforehand. Later in the series I met up with my son Shane Jnr in Yorkshire and I also go to a spot named Ichycoo Park on the Isle of Wight exactly where I stayed in the most outstanding caravan, it had a massive jacuzzi outdoors and flat screen Television more than a bath. It was like a thing for a rock-star. I could picture Liam Gallagher designing it!”
What did your loved ones make of the trip to Wales?
SR: “No-one particular wanted to come back they loved it so considerably. You feel of all that income you could invest on Disneyland, or 5-star hotels in Barbados or wherever posh folks go, and truly my children keep in mind extra about what they did in Rhyl and performing factors like playing rounders on the beach, than they do about something else.”
Did the trip make you nostalgic for your days as a Pontins bluecoat?
SR: “It did. Going back to the Isle of Wight exactly where I very first worked, was a genuine trip down memory lane. There had been occasions when we weren’t fortunate with the climate. I know what it is like getting an entertainer from my days as a bluecoat. When you wake up and see it pouring outdoors, your face drops since you know you will be hosting a LOT of bingo! But Christie and the children couldn’t get sufficient of the bingo, they had been so into it I couldn’t tear them away from their dabbers!”
What else have you got coming up?
SR: “I’m presently on tour in the play, The Entertainer, then at Christmas I’m in panto in London and soon after that I place my heels once again on to play the drag queen in Everybody’s Speaking About Jamie. Beyond that, who knows, perhaps I’ll be off caravanning once again!”
Caravanning with Shane Richie begins on Friday 15th October on Channel five at 9pm.
