The New York Giants got two offensive weapons back for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, as operating back Saquon Barkley and tight finish Evan Engram had been each cleared to play.
Barkley has missed 3 games with a higher ankle sprain and the operating game has slowed without having him. He had rushed for 237 yards with a six.four-yard typical and a touchdown in the Giants’ 1st 2½ games.
The Pro Bowler was injured through a Sept. 22 win more than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when his correct ankle bent awkwardly though he was tackled by security Mike Edwards.
Barkley, who nonetheless leads the group in rushing, hasn’t felt or noticed something incorrect with the ankle though handling an improved workload this week.
A lot more than something, Barkley mentioned, he missed playing. Sources indicated he wanted to return final Thursday against the New England Patriots but did not acquire health-related clearance.
Engram, who missed the loss to the Patriots simply because of a knee injury, practiced completely this week
Wide receiver Sterling Shepard has been ruled out for Sunday’s game with concussion for the second straight week.
Operating back Wayne Gallman and defensive tackle Olsen Pierre practiced completely Friday. They are in the concussion protocol and should meet with an independent neurological consultant to acquire final clearance to play. Gallman was injured against Minnesota on Oct. six and Pierre was injured 4 days later against New England.
