Xinjiang is dwelling to millions of members of the predominantly Muslim Uyghur minority. They are viewed as a Turkic ethnic group and their language predominantly Uyghur is portion of the Turkic language loved ones. Teacher Sayragul Sauytbay told Haaretz of her knowledge in 1 of the camps.

Punishments have been offered to these who failed to comply: “They would punish inmates for every thing. Any person who didn’t stick to the guidelines was punished. These who didn’t study Chinese correctly or who didn’t sing the songs have been also punished.”
Ms Sauytbay alleged she was beaten and deprived of meals for two days right after she was hugged by a lady who asked her for aid, believed she says she “did nor reciprocate the embrace”.
