DANCING WITH THE STARS - "Week 6" - After a memorable "Disney Night" where there was no elimination, nine celebrity and pro-dancer couples return to the ballroom and compete on the sixth week of the 2019 season of "Dancing with the Stars," live, MONDAY, OCT. 21 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Lauren Alaina hinted more than the previous week that Monday’s (Oct 21) dance on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars would be an emotional 1 for her. She posted on her socials that she would be dedicating her look to her stepdad, Sam Ramker, who passed away 1 year ago nowadays.

“He was often my champion. Now he’s my guardian angel,” mentioned the American Idol season 10 alum. “I cannot think my stepdad has been gone a year nowadays. This is an very difficult day for my household, but I know Sam is with us and is so proud of us all. I am dancing for you tonight. We miss you. See you on The Other Side.”

Lauren performed an emotional modern routine with her pro dancing companion Gleb Savchenko to her personal song, “The Other Side.” In her pre-overall performance video package, Lauren and Gleb sat down to speak about the anniversary and how “The Other Side” came to be.

“He created my mom so satisfied, he changed my mom’s life,” Lauren explained. “I wrote ‘The Other Side’ in Sam’s memory. I wanted to make a song that did him justice.”  Lauren’s household identified out he had cancer in April and he died in October. Sam was only 47 years old. “It destroyed me,” Lauren mentioned of the impact her step-father’s death had on her life.

By Lauren’s side, was Lauren’s who, who flew out to Los Angeles to lend help. “The song brought so substantially healing to me,” her mom mentioned in the clip.  On the final day of Sam’s life, Lauren shares, “He opened his eyes, and it was like all of the discomfort in his physique left. He was hunting up at the ceiling in awe and he described heaven…that’s what I wrote ‘The Other Side’ about.”

Following Lauren’s overall performance, judge Carrie Ann Inaba named her a “brave lady.” Fellow judge, Len Goodman, agreed. “It’s a overall performance that is worthy of your stepfather and your self.” Lauren was so emotional, she could barely speak as the judges delivered her scores–a total of 26 points out of 30.
