London — The bodies of 39 folks have been discovered in a truck in Essex, southeast England. The dead integrated 38 adults and 1 teenager, who had been found in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Essex Police mentioned in a statement.

The ambulance service was referred to as to Waterglade Industrial Park in Grays, Essex only 22 miles east of central London, exactly where the victims had been pronounced dead. The bodies had been discovered in a shipping container on the back of a semi truck parked on the side of the road exactly where police are now conducting their investigation. 

The police have launched a murder investigation and have arrested the driver of the truck, a 25-year-old resident of Northern Ireland, on suspicion of murder.

The police initially mentioned they believed the truck arrived on Saturday from Bulgaria and entered the U.K. at the port in Holyhead, North Wales, a lot more than 300 miles northwest of Essex. According to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, having said that the automobile had not been in Bulgaria considering the fact that 2017. Prime Minister Boris Johnson mentioned on Twitter he was “appalled” by the incident.

The discovery came two days immediately after British authorities searched properties in Grays, Essex and other areas in the area as element of an ongoing investigation into migrant smuggling. 

The British National Crime Agency mentioned in a statement released Monday that 5 males had been arrested in southern England immediately after 13 migrants had been discovered in a truck at the port of Calais, France, on Saturday evening. Neither the Essex Police nor Britain’s National Crime Agency had been quickly out there to comment on any prospective connection among the two situations.
