Paul Bedard, Washington Examiner: Battleground: 7 in 10 say US ‘on the edge of civil war’

Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America, with 67% believing that the nation is nearing civil war, according to a new national survey.

“The majority of Americans think that we are two-thirds of the way to getting on the edge of civil war. That to me is a incredibly pessimistic spot,” mentioned Mo Elleithee, the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service.

WNU Editor: I have noticed sufficient conflicts in my life to know that the U.S. is nonetheless far away from a “civil war”. But political animosities are at an all time higher, and criminalizing political policy positions (which is what this impeachment inquiry is all about) is only going to make it worse.
