Winston Reid has had a troubling time with injury over the last two years but West Ham fans have taken time to discuss the service he has provided to the club since he joined in 2010.
Many appreciate the contribution of the centre-back over the last few years, with his winning goal against Millwall in 2012 and a goal against Manchester United in the last match at Upton Park two stand-out moments.

It is impossible for some to share their view on the New Zealand international without passing comment on his injury issues, which is a shame for Reid, but there is no doubt he has made a lasting impact.
Some fans regard him as one of the best defenders the club has had in recent times, and his longevity – he has made 223 appearances for the Irons despite those injury woes – is testament to that.
As a result, an argument has been made that he has been underappreciated and underrated by some sections of the fanbase, though others have admitted that it is unlikely he will ever return to his best form.
What will the result be against Sheffield United?
Here is some of the discussion taking place amongst West Ham supporters.
A bit like Jesus. Lots of stories around about his greatness, but it was too long ago for anyone to remember so could be all just made up

Always gave 100% top class defender when on form but unfortunately injuries stopped him from being consistent, under appreciated by our fans

Best CB we’ve had in a long long time

Starts every week. And captain when Noble isn’t on.

In his prime, best CB we’ve had this decade.

Tremendous when fit and on form, effort & work rate is up there with Noble but injuries have done him I think, be surprised if he gets 10 games this season across all comps.
Even more surprised if he’s here next season.
Deserves a very good send off when he goes.

Prime Winston Reid was a player in the same mould as James Collins – old school, tough and put his body on the line for the team. However, sadly, injuries have curtailed his career and it is highly unlikely we will see those Reid performances regularly going forward.

Underrated, legacy damaged by twilight injuries.
