The Broncos will be without Joe Flacco for their showdown with the Cleveland Browns. Brandon Allen will start. Question is, who is this unknown QB?
Brandon Allen… who is he? “I have never heard of him.” Those are just some of what I read on social media today.
Joe Flacco has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
With Drew Lock still on injured reserve and Brett Rypien currently on the practice squad, the Broncos will turn to…Brandon Allen. There have been plenty of questions on who he is. Plenty of Broncos Country fans have never even heard of him.
Have no fear, I will be giving you all the 4-1-1 on who the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback for week nine is.
If you recall from week three of the preseason or Denver’s fourth preseason game, Brandon Allen was the quarterback who started for the Los Angeles Rams. He went 12 for 19 passing for 162 yards. He threw a huge pass on the second play of the game.
He played college ball at the University of Arkansas. In his senior year, he faced off against some well known quarterbacks. His final numbers in college had been 7,463 yards passing, 64 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. Not as well shabby if I say so myself.
He was drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yes, the similar draft exactly where the Denver Broncos took Paxton Lynch in the initial round. He has spent the final 3 seasons as either a third string quarterback or on the practice squad.
He was waived as aspect of final roster cuts at the finish of the 2019 preseason. He was the quarterback Denver picked up as a replacement to Kevin Hogan.
Against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Brandon Allen will be generating his initial NFL commence. There is a bit of uncertainty of how this game will go for the new starter. For now, Broncos Nation can only hope that he can get the job accomplished.
